“Appraisal and Development”
I have to fill in an eleven page document, as a special treat for working here for one year. I’ve done alright with page one, entering my name and job title with near-perfect accuracy, but now I’m a bit stuck. I think I can safely ignore the “have you met the objectives set last year?” bit, because last year I was too busy learning how to do the job to set any. Something to look forward to next year though!
So, onto question one: “Give your views on your performance over the last year. Summarise your strengths and weaknesses in the performance of your job”.
How honest should I be? Generally my strengths are that I have a pretty posh phone voice, I am good at answering people’s software queries and I’m BRILLIANT at making a small job last several days when not much else is going on.
My weaknesses are that I struggle to motivate myself to do anything at all without somebody else prodding me in the mind every few minutes, I’m hopelessly addicted to the internet …and that I’m BRILLIANT at making a small job last several days when not much else is going on.
In summary, I guess I shouldn’t be THAT honest. But identifying your weaknesses and addressing them is a good thing, right? So maybe I’ll just put that I’m “simply too sexy” and promise not to wear such short sleeved shirts in future.
